Extremely Rare Signed Nippon'Flying Machine' Hairpin or Hatpin Holder C 1910
Extremely Rare Signed Nippon’Flying Machine’ Hairpin or Hatpin Holder – C 1910. Measures approximately 4 ¾” high and 2 ¾” in diameter at the base. Excellent condition – no chips or cracks. Extremely rare piece showing one of the first airplanes in the early 20th century. You might recall that the Wright Brothers’ first flight was in 1903. Signed on the underside with the green Morimura Brothers Nippon mark. Some kind of gold-colored residue is on the underside of the holder – see last two photos. It may be that some kind of protective layer like a felt cushion? Was put on the underside of the holder. The residue will most likely come off with an adhesive remover but I made the decision to leave it in the original condition that I found it in.
